EXPERT GUIDANCE

Separation and Divorce can play can play an adverse emotional impact on parties. Family law mediation is a form of “Alternative Dispute Resolution” ( ADR) and involves a trained and impartial Mediator who holds a number of confidential meetings with the separated parties to help them deal with the practical issues associated with  divorce/separation in a non confrontational manner. We provide support for families that want to find a resolution without the cost of lawyers and or court proceedings. We provide impartial and trained family law mediators who are sensitive to your needs and will help you focus on issues that are most important to you and through a series of meetings help you reach agreements on issues such as parenting, property and money after you have separated.

Mediation is confidential and promotes positive communications to help you determine outcomes on issues that are important to you
Family mediation is a faster, cheaper and less stressful than going to court to resolve issues connected to your divorce or separation.
Our mediators can meet you face-to-face together, separately or online.
The mediator will provide a written summary at the end of mediation
Can children participate in mediation?
Subject to suitability children can participate in mediation. There has been a lot of research surrounding the impact of divorce and separation of children and the general message is that children and young people feel confused, powerless in situations of family change and want to be heard/consulted in the decisions that affect them.
Do I need my solicitor or the Court to refer me to mediation?
No. You can self refer yourself and in fact the court will expect you to have attended a Mediation Assessment and Information Meeting ( MIAM) before launching into a court application.
At what stage should I see a mediator?
You can reach out to a mediator as soon as you separate or are contemplating separation. The aim of mediation is to facilitate positive listening and communications early on to help you reach decisions.
What if I don’t want to meet my ex- can we still mediate
Before any joint meetings, the mediator will have met with you both individually to find out more about the issues that need resolving, give you more information about mediation and answer any questions or concerns you have about what happens next. Shuttle Mediation is possible where the mediator meets you separately via on line sessions to help you make decisions.
What does financial family law mediation cover?
We will discuss and help you reach a settlement of your financial claims. This can involve disclosure of finances so that we can help you decide how to divide the property and assets ( including pensions). We will also help you reach interim financial support arrangements as well as the need for experts such as pension actuaries, accountants.
