SEXUAL ASSAULT AND NON-ACADEMIC MISCONDUCT
There is growing attention on the issue of sexual misconduct on campuses. The Office for Students (OfS) has indicated that sexual harassment and misconduct in higher education is a significant and increasing problem.
In recent years, universities have seen a rise in reported cases of misconduct and sexual assault. As cases increase, universities have responded by managing investigations and disciplinary actions through their own internal regulatory processes. Unfortunately, many institutions lack the experience and properly trained staff needed to ensure these processes are fair, impartial, and consistent. As a result, students can face serious consequences without adequate support—often feeling vulnerable, isolated, and unsure of their rights.
Over the years, we have witnessed how challenging it can be for universities to conduct fair investigations and hearings. These cases are often highly complex, sensitive, and frequently lack corroborating evidence, making it difficult to reach just conclusions. Adhering to principles of natural justice is essential to ensure a fair process for everyone involved.
Our role is to guide you through this challenging process, ensure the principles of natural justice are being followed and provide full support to help you achieve a fair outcome during this highly stressful time.
